Based in East Garston, Berkshire, in the Lambourn valley, we offer films across a wide range of genres, including foreign subtitled, black & white classics as well as British Independents. After many successful years, we are now in our Eighteenth season.

Films are shown on the first Tuesday of the month, November to July, in East Garston Village Hall, with matinee and evening screenings.

The matinee is at 2.30pm with doors opening at 2pm. Tea and cake are available to buy before the film.

The evening screening is at 7.30pm; the doors and bar are open from 7pm. Food orders (fish and chips, curries, etc) are taken at the door up to 7.20pm to be delivered during the interval. Please bring cash to cover food and entry payments as we do not have a card machine.

We have a widescreen HD 1080p projector with HDMI, digital 5.1 surround sound, Blu-ray/DVD and convivial atmosphere. There is disabled access.

Membership for Season Eighteen (2023/24), consisting of up to 9 films, costs £32. You can join at any film showing - you can save time by printing and filling in the membership form and bringing it along. Members are welcome to go to either matinee or evening screenings.

Mendes brings magic to the employees of the Empire where a real cinema that had fallen into disrepair was restored to its former magnificence and used as the location.

The Oscar-nominated star plays a chronically obese man in Darren Aronofsky's clammy, uncomfortable but ultimately redeeming movie. "The Whale" is a deeply moving story about redemption, loss, and trauma.

All Quiet on the Western Front

The Bafta frontrunner gives Remarque's great novel a sumptuous treatment, turning it into the Teutonic equivalent of 1917. The First World War is reimagined as a symphony of mud, teen angst and terrible beauty.

The writer-director's knowing meta-tale set in a space-obsessed 1950s desert town has a starry cast and meticulous attention to detail. Following a writer on his world-famous fictional play about a grieving father who travels with his tech-obsessed family to small rural Asteroid City to compete in a junior stargazing event, only to have his world view disrupted forever.

A Haunting in Venice
